BIBIMBAB - what is that?
The Korean name BIBIMBAB means nothing else than "to stir rice". BIBIMBAB combines all five flavors - sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami - in a single bowl.
For this, rice, meat (fish or tofu) and different types of vegetables are arranged in a hot stone bowl and topped by a fresh, raw egg.
The ingredients are not mixed, but each has its own place in the bowl. Once on the table, the dish is mixed with the chopsticks, so that the egg blends with the meat and the vegetables.
Hence the name BIBIMBAB.
